Work
I reflect deeply on what work is to me and what I'd like to do in the next few years. What I know is that I want to spend less time in front of the computer.
Learning
I started learning Japanese Kanji for the fun of it. I've learned 2000 Chinese Hanzi years ago so I head a tailwind. I don't even say I learn Japanese. I just learn Kanji with Wanikani, because it's fun. I mostly play Japanese videogames (currently Yakuza 0) and I already recognized a few things in game billboards and bars. I have absolutely 0 goal with this and for the first time in my language learning journey for over 15 years, it's liberating.
No Alcohol
I'm not drinking alcohol between 13th September 2026 and 12th December 2026 - a nice, 3 month break. I've done this in the previous autumns and it's always good. I see enourmous benefits: much cleaner head, I'm way less irritable and funnily, weekends seem longer.
Gaming
I won the Valve lottery, so I was allowed to spend a fortune on the Steam Machine AND I FUCKING LOVE IT. The form factor, the UX, everything. I ignore the clickbait-y Youtube whiners who cry it's not pOwErFuL eNoUgH for this much money. I don't care. The ease of use, the quick resume, the whole ecosystem, the community around it - I only trust Valve and Steam with my money. I'm so glad to ditch Sony and their anti-consumer behaviour. Currently enjoying Yakuza 0 and Lego City Undercover.
